Bluntautal - Golling

It is a short valley, but one abundant in water, with the Fischbach flowing through it and finally emptying into the River Salzach.

Bluntautal - Golling

In the north, the 1500 meters-high walls of the Göllstock tower skywards. In the south and west, the rocky cliffs of the Hagenbirge serve as the valley’s boundary. In springtime, countless waterfalls carry the snowmelt down into the valley.

If you wish to hike from the car park at the entrance to the valley, you can choose between a natural hiking path to the right (north side of the valley), and a good forest lane to the left leading to the Bärenwirt (south side of the valley). Along the way to the Bärenwirt, you will also pass a number of small lakes (perfect swimming holes) formed by the Fischbach.

The Waterfalls

Directly behind the Bärenwirt, the mighty waterfalls of the “Weisse Torren” can be seen, especially striking in springtime from May on. It is here that a large volume of water draining from the Hagengebirge comes to the surface. By hiking up through steep terrain (no trail), you will reach the source of this natural wonder. Just a few meters and cascades further down, the Wildbach divides if the water is high enough.
The right branch becomes a powerful waterfall, dropping 25 meters through a narrow fissure, then over several other high drop-offs. The lowest, and also the smallest fall is known as the Bluntau Waterfall or the Torrener Waterfall, and can be reached via a small path.
The left branch of the "Weisse Torren" plunges, first over several beautiful cascades, then in a freefall over a 50-meter rock face, and a little later, in 2 stages down to the main valley, where we find its confluence with the Fischbach.

At this point, the waters of the Fischbach have themselves undergone their own wild journey through a mighty dolomite ravine (400 vertical meters) including the capricious Fischbach Waterfall, which hurls the water outwards as if from a ski jump.
