Treppo Grande
The Roman origin of the original settlement is confirmed, as well as by the finding of many clay and stone materials and of lots of objects dating back to that age, by the derivation of the toponym of Treppo Grande from the Latin word trep, which means "path", or from trivius, which means "crossroads".
The first document in which the town is mentioned dates back to 1213. In 1349 Treppo passed under the jurisdiction of Artegna and then, in the 17th century, under the jurisdiction of Gemona.
In the municipality you will find the Castle of Zegliacco (documented since 1174), which was probably built on the foundations of a fortified building guarding the Via Augusta. Of the ancient villages of Carvacco and Zeglianutto only two small churches remain, which were probably part of the respective castles.
Mountain biking routes and routes of historical and natural interest are present in the territory.
